In celebration of the release of Maroon 5‘s third studio album, you can download their funky new single “Misery” for free! Produced by hit-maker Rober John Lange ( AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Cars ), Hands All Over gives Maroonheads (is that what you call them?) what they want. Which is a polished concoction of dance and rock, somewhere between Jamiroquai and Phoenix.

If you thought David Gray couldn’t slow it down more than Life In Slow Motion, take a listen to his new title track “Foundling.” He may be mellow, but there’s a raging fire inside this Irishman that comes out even during his most hushed moments. The rest of the album (key track: “Gossamer Thread”) includes some of the brightest moments he’s ever recorded.

They didn’t need the plug, but The Roots‘ nightly gig with Jimmy Fallon definitely hasn’t hurt their fan base. Their latest masterpiece, How I Got Over, shows off some new collabos (Joanna Newsom) as well longtime friends (John Legend). The hipster-friendly “Dear God 2.0″ is the standout track, which features Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk.

After years of playing musical chairs with his band members, Billy Corgan might as well be known as “The Smashing Pumpkin” (singular). While he goes his own way, his unwavering series of web-only singles continues with “Spangled,” which is heavier on harpsichord than it is on guitar. Seeing the latest Weezer band photo is almost as surprising as hearing their new single. So, now that you’ve seen the goofy image above, take a listen to “Memories” below. This distortion-heavy track is off their upcoming album Hurley (from Lost?), which drops on September 14th (pre-order here). This date is notable since it’s less than a year from their previous effort, Raditude.

You’d think by now Willie Nelson wouldn’t need to remind fans of his roots by naming his album Country Music, but that’s what he’s done on his latest release (his first for Rounder Records). It’s a collection of old-school honky-tonk classics from the likes of Ernest Tubb, Merle Travis, and The Delmore Brothers (most of which Nelson probably had memorized decades ago). Producer T-Bone Burnett helped develop the sparse arrangements, and the result is easygoing and beautiful–pure, unadulterated Country Music.
